Iran has been thrown into deep shock and mourning following the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in what officials described as unprovoked airstrikes carried out by Israel and the United States. The incident has dramatically escalated tensions across the Middle East, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.

As large crowds gathered in Tehran to protest and mourn, multiple explosions were heard across the capital. At the same time, the Israeli military confirmed that it was conducting operations targeting key sites within the city. Reports of blasts also emerged from Jerusalem, Riyadh, Dubai, Doha, and Manama, signaling a period of extreme instability in the region.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian strongly condemned the assassination, calling it a “declaration of war against Muslims.” He stated that Iran considers it a legitimate right to respond and vowed that the country would seek revenge against those responsible for what he described as a historic crime.

Iranian state media confirmed that several high ranking officials were also killed in the strikes. These include Ali Shamkhani, representative of the Supreme Leader in the Supreme Defence Council, General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Pakpour, Commander in Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Aziz Nasirzadeh, Minister of Defence, and Gholamreza Rezaian, head of police intelligence.

In addition to senior leadership, members of Khamenei’s family, including his daughter, son in law, and granddaughter, were also reportedly killed. The deaths of these prominent figures have intensified public anger and grief inside Iran.

The situation remains highly volatile, with global leaders closely monitoring developments. Analysts warn that this event could reshape the political and military landscape of the region in the coming weeks.
