Karachi is expected to experience a significant change in weather starting from tomorrow, as rainfall and an intense cold spell are forecast to affect the port city over the coming days. According to meteorological analysts, a developing weather system is likely to bring light to moderate rain along with lower temperatures and strong winds, making conditions colder than usual.
Weather experts have explained that a westerly weather system, currently active over the region, is being strengthened by moisture from the Arabian Sea. Due to this system, rainfall between 8 and 20 millimetres is expected in Karachi from Thursday afternoon until evening. This rainfall may provide temporary relief from dry conditions but will also contribute to a noticeable drop in temperature.
In addition to rainfall, Karachi residents should prepare for cold and fast-moving winds starting from Friday. These winds are expected to blow from Quetta, with speeds reaching 40 to 45 kilometres per hour. The strong winds are likely to intensify the cold, making the weather feel much chillier, especially during the early morning and nighttime hours.
Meteorological forecasts suggest that the cold spell in Karachi will remain stronger than usual until Sunday. During this period, residents may experience consistently low temperatures, combined with gusty winds that could impact daily routines, especially for those commuting early or late in the day.
Experts have also cautioned that this is not the only system expected this month. Another western weather system is forecast to affect the country between January 27 and January 28. This upcoming system could once again influence Karachi’s weather conditions, potentially bringing further changes in temperature or additional rainfall.
Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions, particularly children, elderly individuals, and those with respiratory conditions, as cold winds and fluctuating weather can increase health risks. With rainfall and cold weather arriving together, Karachi is set to experience one of the colder and wetter spells of the season, highlighting the importance of staying informed and prepared.
