The Karachi police successfully recovered a three-year-old girl who was reportedly abducted from Seaview Beach during the Eid ul Fitr holidays. The incident occurred on the third day of Eid, when the child, identified as Warisha, went missing while her family was enjoying a recreational outing.
Warisha’s father, Waseem, a resident of Nazimabad, filed a kidnapping complaint at the Darakhshan Police Station on March 25. He explained that while he and his wife chased after their two daughters who had run toward the sea, Warisha remained behind playing in the sand. Upon returning, they discovered she was missing and feared she had been kidnapped.
In response, the police launched an urgent search operation. Photographs and details of the missing child were widely circulated across social media platforms, helping raise public awareness. The South Investigation Police later located Warisha near Jackson Masan Chowk, safe and unharmed.
A suspect named Abubakar has been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the abduction.
Darakhshan SHO Rashid Ali noted that Seaview Beach had been extremely crowded during Eid, resulting in dozens of children going missing temporarily. Fortunately, all were successfully reunited with their families through swift police action and public cooperation.
This incident highlights the importance of vigilance in crowded public spaces, especially during festive occasions. It also underscores the effectiveness of digital outreach and community engagement in locating missing persons. The Karachi police’s prompt response and coordination with the public played a crucial role in ensuring the child’s safe recovery.
