In a thrilling opener of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, Karachi Kings emerged victorious over Quetta Gladiators by 14 runs, thanks to Hasan Ali’s four-wicket haul and a stunning late blitz from Moeen Ali. The Kings set a challenging target of 182 runs, which the Gladiators fell short of, managing only 167/7 in their 20 overs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The Gladiators got off to a strong start, with Shamyl Hussain leading the charge, scoring a quickfire 52 runs off 24 balls. His powerful innings, including five fours and four sixes, gave his team hope. However, the Kings’ bowlers, led by Hasan Ali, responded decisively. Hasan’s four-wicket performance, which included crucial dismissals in the final overs, helped halt the Gladiators’ chase. His efforts, taking 4 wickets for 27 runs, were instrumental in ensuring Karachi’s narrow win.
Moeen Ali, the Player of the Match, played an equally important role with the bat. He top-scored for Karachi with an unbeaten 48 runs from 29 balls, guiding his team to 181/7 in their innings. Despite a shaky start with early wickets falling, Moeen’s steady knock, along with his contributions in the middle overs, helped stabilize the Kings’ innings.
For the Gladiators, despite a solid start with Saud Shakeel contributing 33 runs, their chase faltered after key wickets fell, including Rilee Rossouw and Hasan Nawaz. The Gladiators’ bowlers, led by Daniyal and Alzarri Joseph, tried to break the momentum, but it was Hasan Ali’s performance that tilted the game in favor of the Kings.
The match was a thrilling contest, with Karachi Kings securing a well-earned victory to start their PSL 11 campaign with a bang.
