Islamabad is preparing for a major digital upgrade as officials confirm that the entire city will soon enjoy free Wi Fi access. The National Telecommunication Corporation has announced that 30 public hotspots will be activated by December 2025, marking a significant step toward expanding digital access for everyone.

According to officials who briefed the National Assembly IT Committee, the project supports the government’s plan to strengthen digital infrastructure nationwide. These hotspots will be installed at critical public locations such as markets, government offices, and busy public areas, allowing students, professionals, and visitors to stay connected through high speed internet.

The initiative builds on NTC’s already established network that provides internet and cybersecurity services to more than 3,000 institutions across over 100 cities in Pakistan. With free Wi Fi added to this system, Islamabad aims to become a technology-friendly city that supports education, business, and digital innovation.

The Capital Development Authority will offer full technical support to help NTC ensure smooth installation. NTC will also manage, monitor, and secure the Wi Fi network so that residents can enjoy reliable and safe connectivity.

Experts believe that this move can inspire other cities to follow, highlighting the importance of modern internet access for economic growth, education, and technological development. As the launch date approaches, Islamabad residents can look forward to seamless public internet access, bringing the city closer to becoming a true digital hub of Pakistan.
