The US Israel Iran war has rapidly escalated into a wider regional conflict, leading to hundreds of deaths across several countries in the Middle East. The fighting began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched military strikes on Iran, triggering retaliatory attacks and drawing neighbouring countries into the crisis.

According to figures reported by various governments and humanitarian organisations, the conflict has already resulted in significant civilian and military casualties throughout the region.

The highest number of deaths has been reported in Iran, where at least 1,230 people have been killed since the start of the war. Among the victims were 175 schoolgirls and school staff who died when a missile struck a primary school in the southern city of Minab on the first day of the conflict. The Iranian Red Crescent Society provided the casualty figures, although it remains unclear whether military personnel from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were included in the total.

Additional casualties were reported at sea when a US submarine sank an Iranian naval vessel near Sri Lanka, killing 104 Iranian sailors, though these deaths were not included in the earlier official tally.

In Israel, the military confirmed that two soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon, marking the first troop fatalities since clashes resumed with Hezbollah. Civilian casualties have also been reported, with eleven people killed, including nine victims in an Iranian missile strike near Jerusalem.

The United States military reported that seven American servicemembers have been killed during operations targeting Iranian forces.

Elsewhere in the region, Lebanon has suffered heavy losses, with the health ministry reporting at least 394 deaths, including 83 children, following Israeli airstrikes.

Other Gulf countries have also experienced casualties as the conflict spreads. Saudi Arabia reported two deaths, Bahrain one, and Kuwait several fatalities, including a child and security personnel. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates reported four deaths, and isolated incidents in Oman, Syria, and Iraq have also claimed additional lives.

As the US Israel Iran war continues, the rising death toll highlights the growing humanitarian impact of the conflict and the increasing risk of a broader regional escalation.
