Iran threatens US attack as tensions sharply escalated after Tehran issued a strong warning that any American military strike would trigger an instant, decisive, and far-reaching retaliation. The warning follows recent remarks by US President Donald Trump and the European Union’s decision to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organisation.

Iranian military officials stated that US bases and aircraft carriers stationed across the region are well within the range of Iran’s missile capabilities and would become legitimate targets if Washington initiates any attack. A senior military spokesperson emphasized that Iran’s response would not be limited, unlike previous confrontations, and would be carried out immediately.

Speaking on Iranian state television, Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said US aircraft carriers have serious vulnerabilities and that several American military installations across the Gulf region fall within the reach of Iran’s medium-range missiles. He rejected the notion of a swift US operation, warning that any miscalculation would spiral far beyond American expectations and control.

As rhetoric intensified, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres urged renewed nuclear negotiations to avoid a crisis with devastating regional consequences. Gulf officials privately expressed alarm, warning that a military confrontation would plunge the region into chaos and drive oil and gas prices sharply higher, affecting global markets, including the United States.

Diplomatic efforts to ease tensions continued, with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani holding discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to explore ways to de-escalate and restore regional stability.

Meanwhile, the EU defended its move to block the IRGC, calling it an overdue response to Iran’s handling of protests. Tehran strongly condemned the decision as hostile and irresponsible, accusing Europe of acting under US and Israeli influence.

Iranian leaders have blamed recent unrest on foreign interference, while Washington has increasingly focused on Iran’s nuclear programme. Trump warned that time was running out for Tehran to reach a deal, referencing the arrival of a US naval strike group in the Middle East.

Billboards in Tehran now depict imagery of American aircraft carriers under attack, underscoring how seriously Iran views the confrontation as Iran threatens US attack in unmistakable terms.
