The United States President Donald Trump has described the recent ceasefire agreement with Iran as a “total and complete victory”, following weeks of intense conflict in the Middle East. Speaking in a brief conversation with AFP, Trump expressed strong confidence in the outcome of the deal, claiming it marked a decisive success for Washington.
The ceasefire was reached just hours before a critical deadline, avoiding further escalation after more than a month of US and Israeli strikes on Iran. The agreement was reportedly facilitated with the help of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, which played a key role in bringing both sides to the negotiating table.
Trump also suggested that China may have influenced Iran’s decision to enter talks. According to him, Beijing’s involvement helped create conditions for dialogue, although no official confirmation has been provided. China maintains close economic ties with Iran and remains a major buyer of its oil exports.
Despite Trump’s strong claims, Iran has also portrayed the deal as a victory, highlighting the complexity and uncertainty surrounding the agreement. Both sides appear to have reached a temporary understanding, but questions remain about the long term framework and implementation.
One of the major concerns is the future of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, which has been a central issue throughout the conflict. Trump assured that the matter would be “perfectly taken care of”, though he did not provide specific details on how this would be managed.
The agreement reportedly includes a multi point framework, with several aspects already agreed upon. However, key issues such as the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional stability are still under discussion.
As tensions ease slightly, the world is closely watching whether this ceasefire will lead to a lasting peace deal or simply serve as a temporary pause in an ongoing geopolitical conflict.
