Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have successfully eliminated 13 India-backed terrorists during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs), according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The first operation took place in the Bara area of Khyber District, where security forces engaged militants after receiving intelligence reports about their presence. Following an intense exchange of fire, 10 terrorists were killed. In another operation conducted in Bannu District, forces neutralized three more terrorists, ensuring that the threat in the region was contained.
The ISPR emphasized that sanitisation operations are ongoing to clear the area of any remaining foreign-sponsored militants. The military reaffirmed its commitment to the Counter Terrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam”, vowing to continue efforts until the menace of terrorism is completely eradicated.
Since the Afghan Taliban’s takeover in 2021, Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in cross-border attacks, particularly in KP and Balochistan, both of which share borders with Afghanistan. In response, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, during which hundreds of Taliban operatives and affiliated militants were killed or injured, and dozens of checkposts destroyed.
Recent clashes between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban in October 2025 further escalated tensions, leading to the deaths of over 200 militants and the martyrdom of 23 Pakistani soldiers. Despite multiple rounds of dialogue, no agreement has been reached, as the Afghan Taliban regime remains reluctant to act against terrorist outfits.
The ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces will continue their relentless operations to safeguard the nation and ensure peace in the region, highlighting their determination to counter foreign-backed terrorism at all costs.
