Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stated that the delay in Imran Khan eye exam delay inside Adiala Jail was caused by what he described as Aleema Khan’s political tactics. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Naqvi claimed that the medical process could have been completed earlier if the matter had not been politicised.

According to Naqvi, a team of doctors examined the former prime minister in Adiala Jail and later briefed PTI leaders and Imran’s personal medical team. He said the doctors expressed satisfaction with the treatment, stating that all necessary medical tests had already been conducted. However, he alleged that Aleema Khan advised party members not to accept the findings, fearing that the issue would lose political momentum.

The controversy intensified after a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court confirmed that Imran Khan was diagnosed with Central Retinal Vein Occlusion CRVO, a serious eye condition linked to reduced blood flow in the retina. The report revealed that he had lost nearly 85 percent vision in his right eye. Following this, PTI leaders and family members demanded that he be shifted to a hospital for extended treatment.

Naqvi rejected claims of negligence and insisted that the government is providing full medical facilities under jail regulations. He also criticised what he called political propaganda, saying the issue was unnecessarily amplified for political gain.

Meanwhile, PTI and allied opposition parties have continued their sit in protests in Islamabad, demanding better medical access and permission for personal physicians to examine the former premier. The minister maintained that authorities are acting strictly according to the law and are open to dialogue but will not allow disruption in sensitive areas such as the Red Zone.
