Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has spoken openly after being left out of the national squad for the ICC T20 World Cup, reaffirming that the decision has not shaken his determination or confidence. The experienced pacer stressed that missing a major tournament does not signal the end of his career and that he remains focused on improving his skills.
The Pakistan Cricket Board recently announced its 15 member squad for the upcoming tournament. While former captain Babar Azam retained his place, notable names such as Haris Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan were excluded. The decision sparked debate among fans and experts, given Rauf’s experience and past performances.
Speaking during an interview in Australia, the 31 year old admitted that disappointment was natural but emphasized resilience. He explained that every cricketer feels regret when overlooked for a global event, yet persistence and hard work remain essential. Rauf highlighted that he continues to train rigorously and believes his bowling has improved since the Asia Cup.
The Rawalpindi born pacer also addressed criticism, drawing a clear line between constructive feedback and personal abuse. He stated that players feel immense emotional pain when Pakistan loses, just like the fans. According to Rauf, criticism aimed at improvement is acceptable, but disrespect should never be tolerated.
Reflecting on his role as a fast bowler, Rauf described bowling in the death overs as one of the toughest challenges in modern cricket. Despite the pressure, he said he has always given his best whenever representing Pakistan and will continue striving to perform better.
