A German tourist who lost her way while hiking in the Naran mountains was safely rescued by the Mansehra police after spending a cold night in the wilderness. A video of the tourist thanking the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has gone viral, where she praised their swift and professional response.
According to reports, the tourist began her hike around 5 PM with the intention of exploring a nearby hilltop before sunset. While she successfully reached the peak, darkness fell before she could trace her way back, leaving her stranded in the rugged terrain.
To protect herself from the freezing night, she took shelter in a shepherd’s cabin while locals alerted the authorities about her situation. Soon after, the Mansehra police launched a coordinated search operation with the support of local volunteers. Using torchlights, they trekked through steep mountain paths and eventually located her. The rescuers then guided her safely back.
Officials praised the collaboration between the police and local community in ensuring the tourist’s safety. They stressed that such teamwork is vital in tourist regions like Naran, where hikers often underestimate the dangers of late treks.
Expressing her gratitude, the German tourist said the timely efforts of the rescue team made her feel secure despite being far from home. Authorities also urged future visitors to follow safety guidelines and avoid hiking late in the evening to prevent such incidents.
