The government has once again increased Fuel Prices in Pakistan, effective from October 1, 2025. Both petrol and diesel have become more expensive, adding to the financial pressure on citizens already coping with high living costs.
According to the latest notification, petrol now costs Rs. 268.68 per liter after a hike of Rs. 4.07. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has been raised by Rs. 4.04 per liter, reaching Rs. 276.81.
Officials explained that the revision was necessary due to global oil market fluctuations and the impact of the exchange rate. They stated that such adjustments are essential for managing energy imports and maintaining a stable fuel supply across the country.
The increase in diesel prices is expected to directly affect transportation costs since it is the primary fuel for trucks and buses. Consequently, the cost of goods movement may rise, pushing up the prices of essential commodities. Economists warn this could further intensify inflation, adding more burden on households.
Public reaction to the announcement has been largely critical, with many citizens voicing concerns about frequent hikes in Fuel Prices in Pakistan. People argue that such decisions disrupt monthly budgets and reduce purchasing power. However, the government maintains that these adjustments are unavoidable due to ongoing international and domestic economic challenges.
