In a significant move aimed at supporting post conflict recovery, FIFA and the Board of Peace have signed a landmark partnership agreement to promote sustainable development in conflict affected regions, with a primary focus on Gaza reconstruction. The agreement seeks to attract investment from global institutions and leaders while using football as a tool for rebuilding communities and restoring hope.

The Board of Peace, established under US President Donald Trump, recently held its first meeting dedicated to discussions on Gaza’s reconstruction fund. The initiative aims to rebuild infrastructure once Hamas disarms and stability improves in the region. However, major challenges remain, including the disarmament process, the withdrawal of Israeli troops, the size of the reconstruction fund and ensuring the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid.

Under the collaboration plan, FIFA has committed to building 50 mini pitches near schools and residential areas, along with five full size football grounds across multiple districts in Gaza. The project also includes a state of the art football academy and a new 20,000 seat national stadium. According to Trump, FIFA will raise 75 million dollars to fund soccer related initiatives in the territory.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the agreement as a historic step that will foster investment into football to accelerate recovery in post conflict areas. Beyond infrastructure, the program will prioritize job creation, youth participation, organized leagues for boys and girls, community engagement and local economic growth.

Supporters believe that sports can serve as a powerful unifying force in rebuilding fractured communities. By combining global investment with grassroots football development, the FIFA Board of Peace partnership aims to create long term opportunities and restore optimism in Gaza’s future..
