Pakistan’s experienced cueist Asjad Iqbal produced a brilliant performance as he defeated India’s Pankaj Advani with a flawless 4 0 victory in the World Cup of Snooker quarter final held at the Active Oman Sports and Entertainment Hub in Muscat. His commanding display secured him a well earned spot in the semi finals.
Asjad opened the match in style, firing a superb 81 break to win the first frame 100 0. Although Advani responded with 37 points in the second frame, Asjad kept full control and compiled 92, extending his lead to 2 0. The momentum continued as Asjad posted another outstanding break of 68, taking the third frame 117 16 and moving within one step of victory.
He wrapped up the contest by winning the fourth frame 83 21, giving Advani no chance to make a comeback. This dominant win set up a semi final clash with Nicolas Mortreux from France, who earlier defeated Hong Kong China’s Nansen Wan 4 1.
Earlier in the tournament, Asjad also defeated India’s Hussain Khan 3 0 in the round of 32, showcasing his impressive consistency on the international stage.
A heartwarming moment followed the match as both players exchanged a handshake and hug, a rare sight given the recent tensions and high profile handshake controversies between Pakistani and Indian teams in various cricket events throughout 2025.
Asjad’s latest triumph marks another high point in his career as he continues to represent Pakistan with skill, confidence, and sportsmanship.
