The Punjab government has launched anti-smog cannons in Lahore to tackle rising air pollution levels. These innovative machines work by spraying a fine mist of water into the atmosphere, helping to trap harmful particles and dust that cause smog. The aim is to enhance health and visibility across the city.
Each cannon is capable of spraying mist up to 100 meters and is supported by a large 16,000-litre water tanker, ensuring it can cover wide areas and provide a continuous supply of mist for extended periods.
Authorities plan to deploy these machines at critical points around Lahore, especially during the peak smog season, to significantly reduce hazardous pollution levels.
This initiative is part of a comprehensive clean air strategy introduced under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The ultimate goal is to create a healthier environment for the city’s residents and protect future generations from the dangers of smog.
In addition to deploying anti-smog cannons, the provincial government is also working on other measures. These include installing air quality monitoring systems throughout the city, taking strict action against industries and vehicles that contribute to pollution, and running awareness campaigns to encourage the public to reduce smog.
Officials are confident that combining advanced technology, enforcement, and public cooperation will lead to significant progress in the battle against pollution. The use of these cannons is just the first step in the broader effort to build cleaner, safer cities.
