PTI keeps doors open for dialogue even as fresh deal rumours continue to circulate in political circles.
Senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf say the party has never shut the door on talks with the government. At the same time they insist there has been no concrete new development so far. The comments come amid intense speculation that some form of understanding between the main opposition party and the ruling side may be taking shape.
According to sources inside the party, a message from the government recently reached a PTI senator. The message suggested a meeting could take place inside Parliament House. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself might attend and listen to the party’s concerns. In response, the PTI parliamentary party has called a meeting for Monday to discuss the latest developments and prepare a clear strategy.
A senior party leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that Senator Mashal Yousafzai informed colleagues two days ago about a phone call from MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry. The minister, who was sitting with the prime minister and Rana Sanaullah, invited the party for negotiations. He proposed the Constitution Room of Parliament House as the venue, with the prime minister also present.
This detail matches earlier remarks by Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas, a close PTI ally. He had said the party preferred a neutral venue such as Parliament House rather than the Prime Minister’s Office. Some leaders questioned why Tariq Fazal Chaudhry contacted Mashal Yousafzai instead of more senior figures like Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Amir Dogar or Gohar Khan. Ms Yousafzai, however, maintained that the offer was genuine and serious.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja described all such reports as purely speculative. He said the party stands firm and remains ready to talk with every segment of society, including political parties and other stakeholders. Yet he stressed that no decision can be taken without the approval of founding chairman Imran Khan. The doors remain open, he added, but the system must take the first clear step.
PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram also confirmed that the party is not currently engaged in any formal talks. Attempts to contact Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry for a response did not yield a reply by the time of this report.
Observers note increased media attention on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and rising activity among party workers on the ground. These signs have only added fuel to the ongoing speculation. For now, the PTI parliamentary party meeting scheduled for today will decide the next course of action while the party continues to keep its options open.
