Trump Rejects Claims of Munitions Shortages and Warns of Jail for Leakers
President Donald Trump strongly dismissed media reports about munitions shortages on Thursday, insisting the United States holds massive amounts of weapons and is rapidly expanding production. Speaking through his Truth Social platform, he rejected claims that dwindling stockpiles had limited military options in the ongoing conflict with Iran.
Trump stated that the country possesses vast supplies of munitions, especially certain key types, while large quantities continue to be manufactured and delivered as required. He highlighted that defence companies are currently constructing the largest number of plants and factories in American history. The comments came amid growing frustration over coverage of the Iran situation.
Reports from major outlets suggested Trump had confronted Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth at a Camp David cabinet meeting last Friday, expressing belief that the munitions shortages issue had already been resolved. Those accounts also claimed limited stocks of long-range guided missiles and air-defence interceptors, including nearly 80 percent of THAAD interceptors exhausted, influenced decisions to pause further strikes despite earlier threats of a strong response against Iran.
The White House and Pentagon firmly rejected the stories. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the alleged Trump-Hegseth exchange fake news and confirmed she was present at Camp David, stating the conversation never occurred. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell described both the clash reports and the weapons shortage claims as equally fictional.
Trump went further by threatening legal consequences. He announced that those leaking what he called treasonous statements are being actively pursued and that long-term jail sentences will be sought. Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign ministry denied any negotiations with Washington are underway, even as Trump claimed Tehran remains interested in reaching a deal.
The strong pushback underscores the administration’s determination to project strength on military readiness while challenging media narratives surrounding the Iran conflict and US weapons inventories.
