In a significant development, Pakistan’s security forces have successfully neutralized at least 24 terrorists during intense operations in Bannu district. The joint intelligence-based operations were launched following a disturbing increase in terrorist incidents. These included attacks on police personnel and a deadly vehicle-borne suicide bombing that targeted law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians. According to ISPR, the terrorists belonged to the Indian proxy Fitna Al-Khwarij network. These elements have been actively involved in multiple violent activities aimed at destabilizing peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the last twenty four hours, fierce encounters took place in Bannu and surrounding areas. Security forces engaged the militants effectively, resulting in the elimination of the 24 khwarij. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain terrorists, who had a history of targeting civilians and security personnel. This successful action demonstrates the high level of preparedness and coordination among Pakistan’s defense and law enforcement agencies.
The military has made it clear that such operations will continue without pause. The goal remains to completely dismantle the support networks of these foreign sponsored groups. This counter terrorism campaign aligns with the national vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan.
