Norway’s remarkable World Cup journey may have ended with a heartbreaking defeat, but the team’s return home was transformed into an unforgettable national celebration. More than 100,000 supporters gathered across Oslo to welcome their football heroes after an impressive tournament that united the entire country.

The Norwegian side was eliminated after a dramatic 2-1 extra time loss to England in the quarter finals. Although the dream of reaching the semi finals came to an end, fans proudly celebrated the team’s historic achievement and the excitement they brought to the nation throughout the competition.

The squad received a traditional water cannon salute upon landing before beginning a grand homecoming parade through the capital. Thousands of fans lined the streets, waving flags, singing songs, and cheering as the players made their way to the Royal Palace, where they were welcomed by King Harald.

Supporters filled the palace square and the famous Karl Johans gate, creating a sea of red, white, and blue. Many fans described the atmosphere as emotional and unforgettable, saying the team had inspired pride across Norway and among Norwegians living abroad.

One notable absence during the final celebrations was Erling Haaland, who had to leave early because of travel arrangements after delays returning from the United States. Coach Stale Solbakken explained that Haaland and teammate Sander Berge needed to catch their flights, preventing them from joining the team’s final celebration on the palace steps.

The celebrations continued with an open top bus parade through central Oslo. Huge crowds slowed the procession, while players celebrated with supporters by waving flags and enjoying the festive atmosphere. At one point, the bus briefly stopped because of low hanging overhead cables, forcing the players to sit down before the journey continued.

Captain Martin Odegaard thanked supporters for their incredible backing, saying the love shown both in the United States and across Norway had exceeded every expectation. Despite the tournament ending in disappointment, the Norway national team returned home as true heroes, leaving fans proud of a campaign that will be remembered for years.
