The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department in Multan Division has achieved a remarkable milestone by exceeding the Punjab government’s annual tax collection target during the 2025 to 2026 fiscal year. According to the department’s annual performance report, it collected more than Rs. 5.37 billion against the assigned target of Rs. 5.15 billion, reaching an impressive 104 percent recovery rate.

The report highlighted that this achievement was made possible through the combined efforts of Excise and Taxation Officers (ETOs), inspectors, and field staff working across the four districts of Multan Division. The successful revenue campaign was carried out under the leadership of senior officials who focused on improving tax collection and strengthening public confidence in the taxation system.

Among all revenue sources, Motor Vehicle Tax delivered the strongest performance. The department collected Rs. 3.38 billion, exceeding its target by achieving 123 percent recovery. Excise Duty also performed exceptionally well, generating Rs. 150 million against a target of Rs. 122.5 million, resulting in 122 percent recovery.

Meanwhile, Property Tax generated Rs. 1.64 billion, achieving 83 percent of its assigned target. Luxury House Tax recorded 96 percent recovery, while Professional Tax and Highway Tax achieved 65 percent and 68 percent of their respective targets.

On a district level, Vehari and Khanewal emerged as the top-performing districts with 107 percent recovery each. Multan followed closely with 104 percent, while Lodhran completed the fiscal year with 103 percent recovery.

Officials credited this outstanding performance to digital reforms, improved transparency, simplified tax payment procedures, and the growing trust of taxpayers, particularly the business community. The department also reaffirmed its commitment to introducing more citizen friendly initiatives during the new fiscal year.

Authorities further emphasized that taxpayers should clear their outstanding dues on time. At the same time, they assured that strict legal action will continue against tax defaulters to discourage tax evasion and ensure stronger revenue generation for the development of public services.
