According to local health authorities, thousands of excited football fans filled the area around the famous Angel of Independence monument and nearby Paseo de la Reforma shortly after Mexico secured a 2-0 win over Ecuador. Emergency responders were called to multiple locations after several people became unconscious due to overcrowding and lack of air. Officials confirmed that a 44-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, and later a 48-year-old woman died from suffocation despite receiving emergency medical treatment. Paramedics performed advanced resuscitation efforts, but they were unable to save the victims.
